Video and photography

All our productions need photos for publicity and our archive, and we use video for promotion, on-stage effects and posterity.
What’s involved?
Every production needs a set of photographs for advance publicity, either of cast members or staged scenes. We also take photographs of scenes towards the end of the production period for our archive.
While we’re often restricted in the ways that we can record video by production licences – we can’t record most productions for any form of screening – we can use video for publicity. We’ve also used video to provide effects during performances: for example, the magic carpet ride in Aladdin or the appearance of ‘Harvey’ in the play of the same name.
Typical tasks are:
- Staging and photographing publicity shots
- Photographing performance-ready scenes
- Recording and editing promo videos
- Creating effects videos with either live action or animation
What skills do you need?
- Photography
- Videography
- Editing photos and/or video
