Photography and sharing images guidance
South Brent Amateur Dramatic Society (SBADS) uses photographs to promote its events and create a record of each event for our archive.
Every adult actor is required to agree to be photographed for these purposes if they wish to take an on-stage role when they become a SBADS member. Parents/guardians are required to give permission to photograph their children for the same purposes when they enrol them in SBADS.
Only photographs of SBADS productions taken by our appointed photographer(s) for these specific purposes may be used for publicity or archive purposes, and only in direct connection with SBADS and its activities.
No member of SBADS, or their parents/guardians, should take photographs of other SBADS members, our audience or people attending our events in any capacity, without explicit permission from both SBADS and the person(s) being photographed.
The use of cameras, or mobile phones with camera or video capability, in dressing rooms and other inappropriate environments is expressly forbidden.
It is also forbidden to photograph anyone who is not either fully dressed in their everyday clothes or wearing a complete costume.
The videoing of performances of copyright material, even in rehearsal, is strictly forbidden unless a specific licence has been arranged to do so: it should be assumed to be forbidden unless permission is confirmed by the Producer of a production.
The copyright of photographs remains with the photographer, and images must not be shared in any way without permission.
The sharing of images published by SBADS on its websites and on social media may be assumed to be permitted for the purposes of promoting SBADS and its productions, and for SBADS members to share a record of their own work, only. However, SBADS and its photographers reserve the right to revoke that permission.
Images used by SBADS for publication in any medium must be cleared for copyright. In particular, images found on the Internet must not be assumed to be ‘free’, and images should not be taken from the Internet unless explicit permission has been granted for their use; even most Creative Commons-licensed images cannot be used due to the difficulty of providing attribution.
Photographs or other copies may not be taken of play scripts and their covers, or any other copyright work.
Posters and other promotion artwork must either be based on original concepts or using authorised artwork supplied with explicit permission by a third party.
