A comic parody based on a Greek myth, presented by our youth theatre group

The Cyclops (of South Brent) is a parody from Homer’s Odyssey, written by Euripides and adapted by us! It begins with Silenus, the eldest of the satyrs, recounting how, years ago, he and his satyrs were shipwrecked on the shores of Devon while searching for Dionysus and have been forced to serve as begrudging shepherds for the Cyclops ever since.

Soon after, Odysseus and his sailors arrive, and offer Silenus to trade their wine for food. Silenus cannot resist the offer—after all, he is a servant of Dionysus—even though he has no food to give in return for the wine. So, he offers them some food from the Cyclops’ storeroom. Enter Polyphemus, the terrifying Cyclops. Can  Odysseus successfully reason with the furious Cyclops…

Will Odysseus’ cunning get them out of this pickle?

Will Silenus and his cowardly family of satyrs escape the Cyclops’ rage?

Will those pesky sheep get the last laugh?

Join us for a fun adaptation of this classic, with roles shared across the ensemble, with music and mayhem and more pesky sheep than you can shake a crooked stick at!

Entry is free: no need to book, just first come, first seated.
