Auditions for November and January shows

South Brent Amateur Dramatic Society warmly invites you to come along to our friendly auditions by informal read-through for our next two productions.

No experience required and non-members are welcome to audition: the casts are varied across ages and genders, plus there are opportunities for those who wish to be involved but not act!

Confusions – November 2023

  • Comedies By Alan Ayckbourn
  • Assorted roles for adults
  • Auditions on Sunday, 3 September, 6pm at South Brent Village Hall
  • Performances will be 9-11 November

‘Confusions’ is a set of 5 one act plays which are linked but can be performed in various combinations. We have chosen to perform 3 of these. The cast number can be flexible between 3 males/2 females and 7 males/6 females, or perhaps another variation!

A Talk in the Park

Five strangers encounter one another and misunderstandings ensue. A period 1970/’80s piece which uncannily echos the social isolation felt by many so recently.

Mother Figure

A mother isolates herself from both her husband and the adult outside world. She receives a surprise visit from a neighbour and her husband, who in turn are becoming isolated from each other.

Gosforth’s Fete

A light hearted farce, with more misunderstandings from the larger than life characters. However, they are no match for the British weather, a pack of cub scouts and an out of control tea urn. Chaos ensues!

Aladdin – January 2024

  • Pantomime by Alan P Freyn
  • Roles for all ages
  • Auditions on Sunday, 10 September, 4pm-8pm at South Brent Village Hall
  • Perfprmances will be 24-28 January

Oh yes we are – SBADS are putting on a pantomime next year.  Following the sell-out success of January’s Tom Thumb, SBADS is breaking with tradition by staging another panto from 25-28 January 2024.  Aladdin with – spoiler alert – his magic lamp, will bring surprise, drama, music, dancing, comedy and above all entertainment for all ages.

A new script written by Somerset based author Alan P Freyn will be directed by Donna Wills, local legend of stage, screen and the Village Shop.  This classic tale will contain all the usual elements of Panto so if you want to join in the fun and magic either on or off stage, come along to the auditions on Sunday 10 September from 4pm to 8pm at South Brent Village Hall.

There are characters for men, women and children of all ages and plenty of opportunities to help out back stage before and during the performances. Interested? Come and have a go – no experience needed.
