Congratulations to ‘The Cyclops’ cast and team

The new SBADS youth group did themselves proud on Saturday 11th October with two lively performances of “The Cyclops (of South Brent)”. Telling the ancient Greek story of Odysseus escaping the clutches of the cyclops Polyphemus, eight talented youngsters wove a captivating tale in front of appreciative audiences.
Gemma Kidney, Aphra Bloor, Lyra Neville-Mepham, Matilda Jones, Iris Sullivan, Eliza-Jane ‘EJ’ Ash, Merryn Phillips and Eli Sanderson shared the roles throughout the play, bringing sheep, satyrs, sailors and the main characters of Odysseus, Polyphemus and Silenus to life, with vivid acting and great team cooperation making the show slick & captivating throughout.
The action was directed by Jonathan Mason, who adapted a script by Steve Fitzpatrick during two all-day drama workshops earlier this year. He says that he has been bowled over by the creativity, energy, imagination and dedication of the group, and all were on display at both shows on Saturday.
Off stage another of SBADS young members, Mason Eastley, arranged the lights, and the whole group were supported by the wider SBADS team, with Kim Kidney, Robin Willoughby and Rachel Prince very much taking the lead.
The workshops and show were generously supported by South Brent Parish Council, Councillors Dan Thomas, Guy Pannell and David Hancock, South Brent Feoffees and a benefactor who wishes to remain anonymous.
We would like to thank everyone who supported this production and made it such a success, particularly the young people involved in the show. We very much hope that we will see them all on stage with SBADS again soon.
