Cinderella’s coach arrives in the archive

SBADS began its hundredth year in fine style with its magical panto ‘Cinderella’: we have added dozens of photos to our archive.
This was – exceptionally – the third South Brent pantomime in three years. Once again we were delighted to have full houses, with almost all of our seats sold across the five-show run. We had the largest first-night audience for many years, and a long queue for last night tickets despite it being sold out days in advance. Several hundred guests filled South Brent Village Hall with laughter, boos and cheers from 23 to 26 January 2025 as Cinderella found true love with Prince Charming despite the hindrance of her sisters. The show has been highly praised for its excellent cast, including both SBADS regulars and some making their first appearances on the village hall stage, impressive scenery that included five complete sets, and colourful costumes, including no fewer than eight sets of clothes for each of the Ugly Sisters.
We warmly thank and heartily applaud all the talented actors, the creative team who conjured up the world of Cinderella (including working out how to fit a working horse-drawn coach backstage), the back-stage crew, the wardrobe and make-up teams, our front-of-house volunteers, the lighting team who brought magic to our stage (including the return of pyrotechnics!) and the staff of the Village Shop for handling ticket sales. Huge thanks and congratulations to Cathie Pannell and Donna Wills, who jointly took up the Director’s chairs for the production.
Most of all we thank all those who came to see the panto and whose enjoyment made all the hard work worthwhile – oh, yes it did! We hope to see you at another SBADS production soon – though you’ll have to wait until 2027 for the next panto.
In the meantime, we have begun to add photos by Keith Male of Cinderella to our on-line archive. Visit www.sbadsarchive.co.uk/production/cinderella-2025 to relive the panto – or find out what a treat you missed!
